(FIN) On jälleen lokakuu ja Halloweenia tursuu joka tuutista (enemmän kuin viime vuonna, vaikkei taloustilanne ole edelleenkään varsinaisesti parantunut). Lokakuussa ei kuitenkaan kannata synkistellä, sillä tämän viikonlopun jälkeen alkaa taas Fox-kanavalla uusi tuotantokausi The Walking Deadia (TWD) - tarkalleen ensi maanantaina klo 21.55.
Odotan tällä kertaa mielenkiinnolla ja jopa jonkinasteisella innolla alkavaa 6. tuotantokautta. Edellisen kauden päätös oli - vähän liiankin pitkällisestä pohjustuksesta ja ennalta-arvattavuudesta huolimatta - virkistävä. Olen jo jonkin aikaa miettinyt pitäisikö sarjaan suhtautua kuin erilliseen teokseen verrattuna sarjakuviin. Olen yleensä aina alkuperäisteoksen puolella, kun mitä tahansa kirjallista tuotosta muokataan eläväksi kuvaksi, mutta olen kuitenkin tyytyväinen joihinkin, vaikken todellakaan suurempaan osaan, tv-sarjaan tehdyistä muutoksista (kaikkien tuotantokausien osalta). Tulevalta kaudelta odotan huomattavasti enemmän kuin 5. tuotantokaudelta, jonka aikana olisi voinut tapahtua huomattavasti enemmän.
Sitten on myös se spinoff, Fear the Walking Dead vai mikä olikin. Ärsyttävyyteen asti youtubessa pyörinyt mainos ei saisi minua katsomaan sarjaa, jos TWD ei olisi minulle entuudestaan tuttu. Ihan oikeasti se, että joku tyyppi juoksee kauhuissaan lähiön kaduilla ja ympäristössä, ei vaan ole riittävän kiinnostava mainos. Mutta ehkä tässä haetaankin vain jo "tuoteperheen" tuntevia katsojia. Niin kuin aikanaan 2000-luvulla tuotettujen Doctor Who -tuotantokausien minitrailer - ääni ja sarjan alkamisajankohta. Pisteet BBC:lle <3
(ENG) It is once again October and Halloween is filling every orifice whether you like it or not (much more this year than last year even though the economy is as bad or worse as it was back then). No time to well in the gloom and darkness of autumn, though, as the new season of The Walking Dead (TWD) premieres on Fox this weekend in the US.
I'm actually looking forward to the 6th season. The ending of the previous, though in my opinion they took far too long to get there and it was a tad bit too predictable even if you haven't read the comics, was refreshing in a way. For some time now, I've been thinking whether I should take the TV-series as an entirely separate entity from the comics. I usually side with the original literal product whenever a book or somesuch is made into any form of live action motion picture. In this case, I'm somewhat content with few of the changes made in comparison to the comics, though certainly not with most of them, throughout the seasons so far. My expectations for the coming season are much higher than they were when the 5th season came out.
Then there's the spinoff - Fear the Walking Dead (or whatever). To the point of agonizing frustration, I've been forced to watch the trailer as a youtube ad. As such, if I knew nothing of TWD "franchise" prior to that trailer, it alone would never make me watch the series. Seriously, who would watch a show after seeing a trailer where a panicy man is running down the street in suburbs and the surrounding area? But I guess it's main audience is the same as is for the origianl TV-series and it's enough to evoke their curiosity so I'm not going to say any more bad things about the marketing team at this point. I mean, I still love what BBC did with the mini-trailer for the new seasons of Doctor Who in the 21st century - just the sound and the date <3
